Meet Dr. Alex Samuel
Dr. Alex Samuel was born in Brooklyn, NY and graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Pennsylvania State University in 2015. During his time there, he spent two years competing as a Track and Field Sprinter for the university. After his undergraduate graduation, Dr. Samuel obtained his CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist) certification, giving him extensive knowledge in strength training athletes of various sport populations.
In 2020, Dr. Samuel graduated from New York Institute of Technology obtaining his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. He has conducted research in gait biomechanics of both short and long distance runners and is now able to create greater connections with patients who suffer from running related injuries and allow them to feel comfortable working with him.
As a physical therapist, Dr. Samuel believes “Exercise is medicine. As each of us age, our bodies unfortunately begin to deteriorate. Exercise is the easiest way to counteract our body’s natural aging process so that we may continue to live our lives to its fullest potential.”
Outside of Physical therapy, Alex enjoys staying active by running in the neighborhood, playing tennis and basketball. When he’s relaxing he enjoys spending time by the beach or trying different restaurants.
My WHY
A Singular Passion for Wellness
I became a physical therapist to help people see for themselves how resilient their bodies truly are. We are not as fragile as traditional healthcare perceives. "Don't bend your back", "Don't lift heavy weights'' These fear mongering beliefs need to be eradicated. We were meant to move!
When I was about 6 or 7 years of age, I vividly remember my babysitter having a man come to the house to move her knee. I spent a lot of time growing up with my babysitter because my parents worked a lot. Years later, I realized my babysitter was receiving Home care PT for her Total Knee replacement.
In my Junior year of highschool track and field, I severely injured my hamstring, my athletic trainer at the time was helping through massage therapy and KT taping. I never had traditional PT in an office setting. I didn't even realize my athletic trainer was a physical therapist. I was under the impression that our track team was her only responsibility at 5pm, but I didn't think about what she was doing from 8-4pm.
Through that injury and many conversations with her, she planted the seed in establishing my goal to become a Physical therapist. I knew this profession could offer me variety, I wanted to help people get back to their best version of themselves! I could help people like my babysitter walk again, along with athletes like myself get back to running fast.
My practice started from a deep, personal passion for holistic and patient-centered care. Recognizing the need for a place where comprehensive care meets compassion, I embarked on this journey to provide specialized services in Physical Therapy and Performance Coaching, tailored to each individual's needs.
